Clairefontaine Pastelmat Boards consist of 360gsm Pastelmat Paper attached to a 1.8mm foam board. This facilitates working at an easel, and will make your pastel drawings more robust and easily transportable. The board surface works well for techniques that require a rigid surface like when using texture fixatives. These boards have all of the properties of Pastelmat papers. In particular, the toothy, velvety surface, made from a fine coating of cellulose fibres, significantly reduces the need for fixative, which means that colors remain vibrant and fresh once applied. This makes Pastelmat Boards ideal for use with all dry media - pastel sticks, PanPastel, pencils and charcoal. They are also water resistant which means that they can also be used with wet media such as acrylics and watercolor for washes and mixed media techniques.
